Hello everyone, I would like to share my experience of hiking to Mount Papandayan for the first time. This mountain is very famous as a beautiful and interesting tourist destination as it is a natural park with extraordinary beauty. I was very happy when I first arrived there because the registration was very easy and the ticket was affordable. The entrance fee on weekdays is Rp20,000, and on weekends it is Rp30,000. In addition, there is also a camping ticket with an additional cost of Rp35,000 per person. Although there is an additional cost for camping, I guarantee that it is all worth it for the facilities provided.
The hiking experience on Mount Papandayan is also very different and unique because we will pass through a gentle and well-arranged path with stairs provided. In addition, Mount Papandayan also offers a stunning view of cold water and beautiful craters. However, it should be noted that the water there is mixed with sulfur, giving it a distinctive aroma and taste.When we begin hiking, we will pass through the crater eruption remnants, which makes the hiking experience here more interesting and distinct from hiking on other mountains.
We also pass through Post 4, which has an interesting history, as Mount Papandayan erupted in 1772 and again in November 2002.Although it is no longer possible to park in some places due to the eruption, Mount Papandayan is still worth visiting because of its beauty and unique experience that cannot be found elsewhere.
I highly recommend Mount Papandayan as a natural tourist destination that must be visited and explored. Don't forget to prepare yourself physically, and don't forget to dispose of trash in its place so that the nature around Mount Papandayan remains clean and beautiful.So, besides its beautiful natural scenery, Mount Papandayan also has its own history and uniqueness. This new crater is one of the main attractions of Mount Papandayan, as it is famous for its cold-water lake. However, before starting the adventure, I want to remind you that you should always be careful and respect the surrounding environment because Mount Papandayan is still active and the surrounding area is potentially dangerous.
First of all, to reach the new crater and the cold-water lake, our hiking trail position is on the left side of the main hiking trail from the flow of the 1772 eruption of Mount Papandayan that leads to the northeast. Our hike will begin in the northeast direction, and we will soon arrive at the new crater or cold-water lake.However, remember that we are not hiking up to Papandayan but only heading towards this amazing new crater. Although the new crater is still active, the water inside is not as hot as it usually is in other volcanic craters. However, never try to explore or dive into this crater because of the beauty of nature and to respect the environment and wildlife around us. Remember to follow all rules and guidelines set by the authorities and to always prioritize safety.
